I have this set of wheels that I want to get rid of. They came off my porsche 924. Problem is I can't sell them for the life of me! Any tips on how to sell wheels? Yes I know the pictures are dirty and stuff but I was rushed.

Step 1: Clean
Step 2: Try again
Step 3: Count money

Rule #1 if you want to sell something quickly, make it look like new if it all possible. Clean the mess out of them. You had time to post this, you could have been scrubbing those nasty wheels. Hop to it. :)

This could help. But other than that I would just suggest putting your ad on lots of sites, or post them in different car forums.

You're asking too much for them would be my guess. Local pickup really narrows your market, maybe advertise them as whatever they fit that is most common. All just guesses as I'm no expert.

Honestly, take down the giant all caps list of what they'll fit. List the sizes and maybe a couple models but not that many. Also, I didn't see where you said what the condition of the tires were (forgive, I skimmed quickly)

this. do this.

Like the others said, clean 'em up!
I would find out what — if anything else — they would fit. Expand your market. Are they hub-centric?
They're the wrong spacing for me which is a shame cause I would LOVE me some 6 spoke wheels for my Cougar.....

List the cars they fit in line by line. I lost interest after the first 2 lines. Too much overload.
Nice wheels, I just do not think the presentation was right.

You pretty much answered your own question. Unless of course the question was "how can I make people give me money because I don't want to clean my wheels and I'm not gonna use them anymore they dont need to be clean will someone please come and clean my wheels and take pictures so I dont have to?"

They seemed a little high, but maybe not if the tires are okay. And I think you're right, I'd price shipping.

Thanks for the tips. I believe I said something about the tires

I could have missed it. Sorry

lol, because think about it. The first thing that would go through your mind if your were looking at those wheels would be how long it would take to get them clean, and what might be hiding under the dirt. They look like nice rims, but clean them up and wait for some sunshine. Put them in some open shade, no strong shadows but plenty of light, and take more pictures.

Prices for a new set of Falken FK451 tires, which these are, would exceed 400 dollars I believe. How does one ship wheels without it being a massive pain in the ass?

They might be worth that but finding someone in the local area that is willing to pay it might be very difficult especially if the only lookers are people searching for 924 wheels.

Sounds good. My motivation to sell these isn't incredibly high hence the dirtiness and laziness of the eBay post but I want to get rid of them now. It doesn't help that the wheels are literally unheard of online, so that doesn't help either.

At least powerwash them for godsake!

Ebay's a bit strange. You may well get more for them if you start them at $0.01 on a longish auction than with a BIN of $400. If you go that route, make sure your auction ends mid-afternoon on a weekend.

Right but they are used and finding someone willing to pay what you want in your local area is obviously not working. Have you had any offers at all? Did you try Craigslist?

I looked at the pictures and agree that the first step would be to shine them up. They look old and abused at first glance. I think cleaned up you'll have a much better chance at selling them. Good luck, hopefully you can move them out.

On craigslist I've had one or two interested people, mostly scammers however. There are people who just stop responding. I believe they are worth more than 400 bucks, and the tires look new to me.
I'm curious as how one ships wheels haha

Thanks buddy. I will clean them up tomorrow when I see them. I sort of assumed that might be the problem but as you can tell motivational factor isn't too high :P

Man I'm the same way, why clean this up for someone else to enjoy.

I am afraid with these wheels since they get so little views that someone will bid 20 bucks and win them. In which case I would be very unhappy.

I've bought tires from the tire rack before and they just strapped them together and put the label right on one of the tires. With the rims it would be harder because you'd have to box them to protect the rims from the shipping company. That's the biggest problem with wheels, in order to get what they are worth you have to broaden your prospective buyers to other areas but wheels/tires are hard and expensive to ship. Give it a little time and hopefully your buyer will find you. If you want to move them quickly though you might have to sell them for much less than what they are worth. I've heard craigslist can be a nightmare with the scammers, when it first came out it was great, I bought and sold several things but lately I hear so many horror stories that I just stay away from it.

Clean wheels show off their condition much better. Wash 'em up.
Wheels aren't hard to ship with tires. Put cardboard over the hard parts and bundle 'em up. The tires keep them from getting damaged around the outside.

I would skip e-bay and go straight to a Porsche forum and cross check the bolt pattern to see what other cars these would fit and hit those forums as well. While e-bay has a larger potential audience the chances of finding someone looking for 924 wheels are pretty slim, but on a forum they are all potential customers. If you want to stick with ebay list the bolt pattern in the description or title so they will pop up for anyone looking for wheels in that bolt pattern.
And like everyone else said, clean em up and take some good quality pictures. You could also offer to ship at buyer's expense to widen your potential market. Unless you don't want to go through the hassle of boxing them up individually and shipping them out.

The only other Porsche these wheels would fit on off the top of my head is the 914. No one wants to put these rice-y wheels on a 914. There are only very few porsches with 4 bolts. I have the bolt patterns in the title :(, still nothing. These wheels fit 4x100 and 4x114.3 cars.
